ENCHANT, the Bay Area's long-running Prog Rock institution, are finally back to the scene they once helped shape and establish! Originally founded in1989 and with seven studio album releases under their belt, it's been a much too long period of silence for ENCHANT ever since their last official release, the "Live At Last" live-documentation 2CD/2DCD from 2004.
ENCHANT have recently announced that they are at long last working on an overdue brand-new studio album and they have now also signed a new longterm worldwide deal with their perennial label-partner InsideOutMusic.
"It's been way too long!", says Douglas A. Ott, main songwriter and guitarist of ENCHANT. "We had to take time off from ENCHANT because a lot was going on in all of our lives. Divorces, marriages, kids, separations...Finally the band is stable again and ready to get going on the new album!"
Ott furthermore adds: "Everyone is really excited and looking forward to the process again. I'm currently doing preproduction and putting together demos of the new material and very shortly. I'll start recording the real tracks. We're taking our time and really focusing on the writing and arranging of this new material."
Thomas Waber, founder and label manager of InsideOutMusic, comments on the return of ENCHANT as follows:
"InsideOutMusic as a label has a long history with ENCHANT and I am very happy that they are making a new album right now. Hopefully we can add many more fond memories to the relationship!It's great to have them back!"
A new ENCHANT studio album is in its songwriting and pre-production stages right now and is expected to be available for a release early 2013 via InsideOutMusic.

Mi pare strano trovare gli Enchant sul tuo blog.
Ho ascoltato più volte il Live del 2004, che dovrebbe essere riassuntivo della loro carriera, e l'ho sempre trovato piuttosto banale, senza guizzi, quasi scolastico.
Un po' come al loro tempo i Kansas.
Cosa c'è di progressivo nella musica degli Enchant?
Be', generalmente gli Enchant vengono ritenuti progressive metal, poi, al di là se uno è d'accordo o meno, hanno realizzato un album di tutto rispetto come "A Blueprint of the World" (prodotto da Steve Rothery) che per lo meno ha molti richiami neo prog.
Magari durante il loro cammino hanno perso un'attitudine più prettamente progressiva, ma sono riusciti comunque a mantenere un buon profilo.
Secondo me hanno poi prodotto dei validissimi lavori come "Juggling 9 or Dropping 10" e "Tug of War", dove si trovano dei buoni interplay tra chitarra e tastiere, lo stile è asciutto e diretto, meno "pacchiano" di molte altre prog band, ma non per questo andrebbero eliminati dal prog metal. Oltre ai Kansas poi citerei anche i Rush come influenza, il che chiarisce che possono di diritto appartenere a questo genere.
Beh, è un fatto di gusti.
In effetti l'unico gruppo prog metal che apprezzo sono i Dream Theater, soprattutto in Scenes from a Memory.
Gli altri sono tutti noiosi e prevedibili, a mio modo di vedere.
E gli Enchant non fanno eccezione (anche se io continuo a vedere poco prog e anche poco metal nella loro musica)

Concordo con Lorenzo, gli Enchant hanno prodotto dei lavori validissimi, come il loro favoloso debutto e secondo me non hanno mai sbagliato un colpo. Purtroppo il live di cui parla Red non ho avuto modo di ascoltarlo...
Comunque Lorenzo sempre grazie per le notizie che pubblichi, come il lieto ritorno di questa band, più che sottovalutata, misconosciuta...
